This past Sunday, something extraordinary happened in our Godly Play Class—something soft, gentle, and full of life. In Kyra’s absence, Theresa Young stepped in to lead, bringing along a visitor who quickly became the star of the morning. His name is Borealis.
Just three weeks old, Borealis is a Valais Blacknose lamb, a rare and beloved heritage breed from the Swiss Alps, easily spotted by their striking black faces, ears, knees, and hocks. But it wasn’t just his adorable appearance that made an impression—it was his spirit.
Born through a complicated delivery and lovingly bottle-fed by the Young family, Borealis has known human care since his first breath. And on Sunday, he brought that bond into our classroom. He nuzzled close to Theresa, his tiny hooves soft against the floor, his eyes full of trust and curiosity. The children gathered close, wide-eyed and smiling, as Borealis reminded us all what gentleness looks like when it’s made real.
He is, without question, the cutest lamb we’ve ever seen. But more than that—he reminded us of something deeply true: that love, when nurtured, creates connection. Even across species. Even across age and experience.

Thank you… Theresa, for bringing this moment of grace into our Sunday. And thank you, Borealis, for showing us how even the smallest among us can carry a great message of joy.
May we always be open to surprise, to affection, and to the tender miracles in our midst.
